Decanters
A decanter is something that is used to hold the decantation of a liquid which may contain sediment. They vary in many shapes and designs and are traditionally made from glass or crystal. Most decanters volume that it holds is equivalent to a bottle of wine. In the 1730s British glass, makers introduced a stopper to the decanter to limit exposure to air and seal the contents. It also helps reduce the speed of deterioration of some wines after being exposed to air. Although mainly used for wine, many other alcoholic beverages such as cognac or single malt scotch whisky are often stored in decanters.
