Reasons to have a decanter

Not only is a nice heavy glass set, it also will look amazing sitting on top of your side boards or cupboard. Fill it with your favourite whiskey, brandy or any other favourite tipple and it will be waiting for your next toast or nightcap.

Not just for spirits, pouring wine into the decanter will leave the sediment from the wine in the bottle. This method allows the wine to breathe and releases the flavours, therefore making the wine taste differently then if it was poured straight from the bottle. In fact, a bottle of wine has more benefits from being in a decanter then any other alcohol. Sediment from the wine will settle on the bottom of the bottle, this is not the same for whiskey.

The only real thing to remember is that whiskey and other spirits will last longer in a decanter then wine. A bottle of wine will only last a few days but the same can be said if it was left in an opened bottle.
